OUR STORY

Our humble beginning goes back to almost 60 years ago. In 1965, just two years after the formation of Malaysia, a group of budding entrepreneurs came together to realise a dream – one that will help young Malaysia strengthen the food industry and attain self-sustainability in food. As a result, Rex came into being, with the entrepreneurs taking to the task of producing quality, value-for-money and easy-to-cook halal products for a growing Malaysian population. Our first food product is canned sardines, while our first range of beverages are Asian flavoured drinks in Tetra Pak.

As our brand grew and established trust among Malaysians, we began a global expansion and set foot in Indonesia in 1992. Our company in Indonesia began manufacturing and exporting canned processed seafood mostly to Europe and the United States. It operates under stringent standards set by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of Indonesia.

In 1994, Rex was converted to a public limited company and adopted its present name as Rex Industry Berhad (“Rex Group”). Today, Rex Group remains as one of the leading manufacturers and exporters of halal canned products, frozen food and beverages company in Malaysia.
